Project Overview:

CatchMark was asked by this customer to assist them with planning, designing, and installation of new networking equipment for their location. The goals of this project were to address outdated hardware and improve wireless coverage in their warehouse.

Project Duration

The planning began in July with a target execution date of November/December.

Technology Stack

  • Unifi: Network switches and access points
  • XGS Routing Appliance

Project Challenges

The execution plan was to install the new networking hardware alongside the existing and cutover at the scheduled date. This required the CatchMark Team to be very detailed and careful to not disrupt the customer. There were some new network drops ran as part of this project in their warehouse. The navigation throughout the warehouse with a lift took precision to work around the materials and staff. The weather required the originally planned cutover date to be pushed back by a week. A large winter storm was coming through the area and presented a risk to traveling onsite as well as the stability of the network and power at the customer site. The customer agreed it would be best to push the migration back one week.

Results

CatchMark completed the project on budget and the customer has reported the overall speed of the network has increased and the wireless coverage in the warehouse is exceptional.
